The Need

Modern house design almost excludes the entry of fresh air to your home – great for conserving energy but unhealthy for your home.

With increasing levels of insulation and air-tightness, the importance of controlled air exchange also increases. In heated or cooled buildings, fresh air available from opening windows is no longer a desirable option due to energy lost in the escaping air and that required for conditioning the incoming fresh air.

In July 2007 the Government announced in a Policy Statement, Building A Greener Future, that all new homes will be zero carbon from 2016. Superior techniques for insulating and ventilating will be required. Fresh air, supplied at room temperature, with no unnecessary energy use will play a vital role in helping to achieve the Governments targets whilst maintaining a healthy environment.
